Carbon Credits

Important Carbon Credit Information:

Carbon credits are becoming key component of international attempts to control the growth in concentrations of greenhouse gases around the world. One Carbon Credit is equal to one ton of Carbon. The concepts was designed to allow market mechanisms to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of lowering carbon emissions and emitting less carbon dioxide and other GHGs into the atmosphere. Since these carbon projects generate credits, this concept can be used to finance carbon reduction plans between trading partners all over the world.

At Green Energy Concepts we can assist in both calculating the carbon credits generated by your new energy use reduction and assist, in many cases, in managing or finding potential buyers like commercial and individual customers who are interested in lowering their carbon footprint on a voluntary basis. The quality of the credits are based in part on a validation process and nature of the entity or company that acted as the sponsor to the carbon reducing project. This is directly effects the overall value of the credit.

There are two basic types of Carbon Credits:

Carbon Offset Credits (COCs)
- Carbon Offset Credits consist of clean forms of energy production, wind, solar, hydro and bio-fuels

Carbon Reduction Credits (CRCs)
- Carbon Reduction Credits consists of the collection and storage of Carbon from our atmosphere through reforestation, forestation, ocean and soil collection and storage efforts

Both uniquely different, but are recognized as effective ways to reduce the Global Carbon Emissions crises we are facing.  At Green Energy Concepts we primarily focus on Carbon Offset Credits.  Carbon credits in general are a newer concept here in the US.  If you want to find out more please feel free to call in and speak with one of our account specialists.
